Career and Technology Education Strategic Plan 2018-2019

  1. Vision of Career and Technology Education (CTE)

Update Pathways to success under new state level reorganization including career clusters for every secondary student by providing him or her with the technical skills and academic knowledge needed to prepare for future employment and/or a successful transition to post-secondary education. For some students this may be at the exploratory level only, while the opportunity to complete a pathway will be available to every student.

  1. Goals

Maintain five CTE program areas with a minimum of 15 courses, two Pathways and three student Organizations as we move to the 5 x 5 block schedule. Our fifth program area will likely become Health Science Education or FACS or both depending on new individuals being hired. Provide CTE summer conference new teacher training opportunity as needed.

Finalize College and Career Awareness 7th grade teachers and Business Education Teacher and determine if attendance at summer training specific to this assignment will be needed.

  1. Expectations

Expectations include increased enrollment overall which will be necessary to compensate for 10 courses/year instead of 7 courses/year to maintain overall ADM and resulting CTE WPU Add-On funding.

With the hiring of Dan Springer it is expected that we will have the multiple endorsements needed to fill the teaching assignment including the 7th grade CTE core area.

  1. Strategies

Revue student enrollment counts by course to determine sustainability of individual courses in light of six years of non-restored CTE funding cuts. In the event course reductions become inevitable, make adjustments through attrition and hiring of new staff members with specific teaching endorsements.

Have the newly hired teacher make application for either an ARL or SAEP in order to satisfy state teaching endorsement/license requirements. The teacher will work toward USOE SAEP plan requirements over the next two years.
